Indore in Madhya Pradesh is the cleanest city in India. It was named the cleanest city for the eighth year in a row in the Swachh Survekshan 2024-25 awards, the national cleanliness survey run by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. Surat, Navi Mumbai and Vijayawada followed it at the top of the large-city rankings.

This list is built from the official Swachh Survekshan 2024-25 results, presented by President Droupadi Murmu on 17 July 2025, the latest full results available as of September 2026. That edition created a new Super Swachh League for cities that had been in the top three in earlier years, and ranked other cities separately. Our top 10 takes the four Super Swachh League cities with more than 10 lakh people first, then the three best cities of that size in the main ranking, Ahmedabad, Bhopal and Lucknow, and finally the top three Super Swachh League cities with 3 to 10 lakh people: Noida, Chandigarh and Mysuru. More than 4,500 cities and towns took part in the survey, and smaller towns are ranked in their own population groups.
