Top 10 Tourist Places in India (2026)
The most famous tourist place in India is the Taj Mahal in Agra, and it is the first place most visitors from abroad put on their list. Jaipur, Goa, the Kerala backwaters and Varanasi follow as the destinations Indians and foreign travellers search for and visit most. The rest of the top 10 covers Amritsar, Delhi, Ladakh, Kashmir and Rishikesh, so the list spans monuments, beaches, mountains and pilgrimage towns.

How this list was made
The ranking is based on how popular each destination is with domestic and international travellers and how often people search for it, as of 2026. Visitor counts are only published for ticketed monuments, so no single statistic decides the order. We ranked whole destinations rather than single hotels or viewpoints, and we left out hill stations such as Manali and Shimla, which have their own list on TrendingPunjabi. Every place here is reachable by air or train from the major cities. The best time to visit is given for each entry, because weather matters more than anything else when planning a trip in India.
