Who we are

TrendingPunjabi.com is an independent website about Punjabi and Indian music, films and the people who make them. We are not affiliated with YouTube, Instagram, Google or any record label or film studio. You can reach us through the contact page; more about the site is on the about page.

Where the numbers come from

• YouTube: views, likes and comments of each song’s official upload, read through YouTube’s own public data service and recorded every day.
• Instagram: follower counts from public profiles, refreshed regularly.
• Films: release details and ratings from TMDb and IMDb, plus our visitors’ ratings.
• Fan votes and ratings: cast by visitors on this site.

How the rankings work

• Most viewed boards rank songs by the total YouTube views of their official upload.
• The TP Hot 50 ranks songs by the YouTube views they gained in the last seven days; each week’s chart is kept in the chart archive.
• Instagram lists rank people by their current follower counts.
• Fan polls rank by the votes cast on the site during each poll period.

Rankings come from these numbers alone. Nobody can pay to move up a ranking. Promoted songs and films appear in their own spot, marked “Promoted”.

Songs, credits and films

A song’s title and singers are taken from its official upload and checked by our import rules; lyric-video, audio and visualizer uploads are listed as their own entries. We link full movies only when the rights holder has posted them on its own YouTube channel, and never link unofficial uploads.

Chart news and automated writing

Our chart news stories and some page summaries are written automatically from our data: every number in them comes straight from the database, and we write and check the rules that turn those numbers into sentences. A chart story is published the Monday after its week ends and does not change afterwards.

Corrections

If a number, a credit or a fact on the site is wrong, tell us through the contact page with the page address. We check every report, fix confirmed mistakes on the page itself and correct the rules behind them, so the same mistake does not come back.
