The story of Splitsvilla 1
The first Splitsvilla, titled simply Splitsvilla, aired in 2008 with a villa in Goa as its home. Rannvijay Singha hosted the 14 episodes, which ran from 20 June to 13 October 2008, and 22 Splitsvillans took part. The first season had no theme of its own; it was about the people who came and went.
Dumping did most of the work of thinning the field. Prianca Sharma, Bianca Mendonca, Hannah Sim, Yamini Batra, Hoorzan Irani, Aarti Thaokar, Vani Sharma, Simran Dhawan, Richa Singh, Akanksha Kanjilal, Kanika Narbar and Sneh Richa all went out when the boys dumped them. Bosky Bhatia, Minakshi Khanduri and Sahil Anand were dumped by the girls instead. That makes twelve exits at the hands of the boys against three at the hands of the girls.
Some exits carry a more personal note. Vishal Karwal dumped Shruti Rawat, and Varun Saini dumped Anubha Agarwal. Ritu Kochhar was dumped by Vishal and Varun's friends, while Angela Krislinzki was dumped for betrayal. The boys also dumped Heena Pardasani at one point, yet Heena went all the way to the final and finished as a runner-up. Vishal and Varun went on to finish first and second, with Varun losing to Vishal.
In the end Vishal Karwal and Shraddha Haribhai were the winning pair and the ideal match of the first season. Varun Saini, who lost to Vishal, and Heena Pardasani took second place as the runners-up.
