The story of Bigg Boss

The first season of Bigg Boss, titled simply Bigg Boss, started on 3 November 2006 on Sony TV. Arshad Warsi was the host, the house stood in Lonavala, and the tagline was Kahin Uski Nazar Aap Pe To Nahi. Fifteen housemates went in with a prize of ₹1 crore on offer, and the season ran for 86 days over 87 episodes.

The group mixed film, television and sports names. Rahul Roy was known as a former actor, Carol Gracias and Ragini Shetty as models, and Ravi Kishan as a Bhojpuri actor who later became an Indian politician. Rakhi Sawant and Kashmera Shah were known as film actresses, Rupali Ganguly as an actress, and Amit Sadh as an actor. Salil Ankola was a cricketer and actor, and Baba Sehgal a singer and rapper.

The exits started early. Salil Ankola was ejected on day 6, Bobby Darling was evicted on day 7 and Deepak Parashar on day 14. Two wild-card entries joined along the way: film actor Deepak Tijori came in on day 13 and was evicted on day 50, while Baba Sehgal entered on day 42 and left on day 63. Aryan Vaid went out on day 35, Anupama Verma on day 42, Ragini Shetty on day 56, Rupali Ganguly on day 70 and Amit Sadh on day 77.

There were two comebacks as well. Kashmera Shah was evicted on day 21 and returned on day 71 as a guest, staying until day 81. Rakhi Sawant was evicted on day 29, re-entered on day 42 and was evicted again on day 85.

Three housemates stayed until day 85 and filled the podium. Rahul Roy was named the winner, Carol Gracias finished as first runner-up and Ravi Kishan as second runner-up. Rahul Roy took the title and the ₹1 crore prize, and the season closed on 26 January 2007.
