The story of Bigg Boss 12
Bigg Boss 12 began on 16 September 2018 on Colors TV, hosted by Salman Khan from Lonavala. The tagline was Vichitra Jodis, a reference to the unlikely pairings the housemates entered in. Twenty housemates took part for a ₹30 lakh prize, and the season ran for 105 days across 107 episodes until its finale on 30 December 2018.
The pairs came from very different walks of life. Dipika Kakar was known as a television and film actress, Sreesanth Nair as a cricketer, Karanvir Bohra as a television and film actor, and Deepak Thakur, Jasleen Matharu and Urvashi Vani as singers, with Anup Jalota described as a popular singer. Romil Chaudhary was a lawyer from Haryana, Nirmal Singh a policeman from Haryana, Kriti Verma a GST inspector and Surbhi Rana a dentist. Sourabh Patel was a farmer and Roshmi Banik a businesswoman.
Day 14 was a big exit day: Nirmal Singh, Kriti Verma, Roshmi Banik and Romil Chaudhary were all evicted. Romil Chaudhary was back on day 15, the day Surbhi Rana came in as a wild card. Neha Pendse was evicted on day 28 and Sourabh Patel on day 35. Two more wild cards, Rohit Suchanti and Megha Dhade, entered on day 36. Saba Khan and Anup Jalota left on day 42, Urvashi Vani was evicted by housemates on day 49, and Shivashish Mishra was ejected on day 63.
Srishty Rode went on day 70, Jasleen Matharu and Megha Dhade on day 84, Rohit Suchanti on day 91, Somi Khan on day 98 and Surbhi Rana on day 102. Surbhi Rana, who lasted from day 15 to day 102, had the longest run of the season's wild cards.
Five housemates stayed until day 105. Dipika Kakar won and Sreesanth Nair, the cricketer, was first runner-up. Deepak Thakur walked out and finished as second runner-up. Romil Chaudhary, who had returned on day 15, finished as third runner-up and Karanvir Bohra as fourth runner-up.
